What to Bring

Cowboy/Riding Boots

We recommend slip on boots because they are safer…hiking style riding boots are strongly discouraged.  Don’t worry, you can keep these at the arena for the week and walk back and forth in more comfortable shoes!

Hiking/Outdoor Shoes

Most of our guests prefer to walk the mile to and from our indoor arena to get their muscles stretched up.  If you do this, or want to explore the trails around the ranch when you aren’t riding, you may wish to bring a pair of tennis shoes or hiking shoes.

Cowboy Hat

please have a stampede string with it in case of a windy day!  Ballcaps are also a good idea if that is your preference.

Riding Jeans

We recommend getting a couple inches longer than your typical inseam so that your pants don’t ride up your boots and cause discomfort when riding.  We like Kimes, Wrangler and Haala jeans.

Shirts

We recommend breathable button up shirts or tees for warmer months and warm flannel shirts for cooler months.

Rain Gear

Generally recommended in the Spring and Fall months for a rainy day.

Beanie and Wool gloves

Recommend for February - April & Late September - November

Sunscreen / Insect Repellent / Sunglasses

Swimsuit

You will want one if you plan on going to the lake in the summer.

Inside shoes/Slippers

Nice to have for inside cabins & lodge

Layers

Wool and polyester blends are warmest.  It’s not unusual for temps to change drastically at times of the year, think 20 degree mornings and 80 degree afternoons!  It’s best to have options.  We also have sweaters and gear in our gift shop!

Chaps

If wanted, but not required.  We have several that you can borrow if you prefer to for rides outside.

Helmet

If wanted, but not required.  We also have helmets available to borrow.

Epi-pen if you are allergic to bees!

We DO keep Epi-pens at the lodge, but if you have an allergy, best to have your own for extra safety.

Basic toiletries

Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, etc

Hard Liquor of your choice if wanted.

We serve local beer on tap and have plenty of red and white wines at the lodge, however!

Things you DO NOT need to bring:

Shampoo & Conditioner

Bath Soap

Benadryl

Ibuprofen and Tylenol

*Unless you have a condition which warrants it, we prefer that you ride without gloves as you’ll have a better feel on the reins

*No need to pack spurs if you are riding our ranch horses.

*Please note, we DO have laundry facilities (and soap) available to all guests during your stay—they are available to you after 4pm each day.
